Skipping Happy

One of my favouite features of my bedroom is a pretty shelf that I have in an alcove. This was, believe it or not, sourced from a neighbours' skip! But I love it. Keep your eyes open at all times when on the hunt for thriftful pieces. One man's junk is another man's treasure.

Vintage Thrift

This photo is taken from a wedding I went to last year. I'm wearing a dress from Vivien Of Holloway, my favourite shop in London. They stock a range of fabulous style savvy clothes and accessories that'd transform anyone into a real vintage starlet.

Their beautiful dresses cost upwards of £59, depending on which style you are after. The red dress I'm wearing, for example, usually sells for £79. However, I bought my dress from the 'seconds' rail and it cost a mere £10. Thrift-Queen heaven! It had a small hole in the back of it, which is barely noticeable once I sewed it up. And I got myself an absolute bargain, saving £69! Highly recommendable for classic items of clothing that'll never go out of fashion. It is, however, worth a visit to the store to be measured as their sizes come up small.

Let's go fly a kite...

With the summer holidays drawing to a close, funds are dwindling, and patience can be at a minimum. The Thrift-Queen's top tip: Go fly a kite! It cost me £3 from Tesco's and my son had THE best day out! Cheap yet cheerful!

It's a steal, it's a deal....

Ultimate thriftful-ness! My [lovely] boyfriend bought this Skets tee shirt on Thursday, after we saw them support Capdown at a gig. By Saturday, I had convinced him it actually looked better on me! What do y'all reckon? I do feel a bit bad for spiriting it away, but other halves are a good source of free clothes.

We could pretend that since the recession hit, my thriftful lifestyle is very relevant (which, I guess it is). But the truth is, I love a bargain!

This is the beginning of a blog to boast about my amazing bargains, to share my top tips, to recommend methods of saving money whilst staying style-savvy and to learn from y'all thrifty tips. I am the self proclaimed Thrift-Queen.
